Captain America: Civil War (2016)

The latest offering from Marvel Studios and probably their best one yet. Captain America: Civil War is a great superhero film full of great drama, action and humour. It gives us a very character driven story, that makes for a much more compelling film. We've got all the previous characters being represented better than they ever have been, as well as great new additions like Black Panther and the new incarnation of Spiderman (who seems to be the best one yet). Everyone manages to fit and isn't out of place, even the 'villain' is well drawn out and has very good motivations behind him. There's a lot of really good action sequences too, that are decently shot with lots of cool moments sprawled throughout.
The whole thing just works great, it's well balanced, paced, written, acted and is just a super entertaining film overall. I really liked it. ****

Deadpool (2016)

The first big superhero film of this year and it's a pretty darn solid one. A rare 15(R) rated marvel film filled with graphic violence, strong language, some sex and of course 'breaking the fourth wall' making for a very fun viewing experience. Ryan Reynolds is on top form as the titular character in probably the best role of his career, and the rest of the cast are also good. The plot is pretty straightforward and still contains the usual genre conventions but it's well executed and it's more adult themed content and meta-stuff make it stick out a little. Overall this is just a really fun, solid superhero film that's not necessarily great but works well as a introduction to the Deadpool character and is just really entertaining. I  look forward to the sequel and how they go about it.***1/2

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

So here it is Avengers: Age of Ultron, the second Avengers movie and final film of Marvel's phase 2. I quite enjoyed the first movie (not as much as most people) and thought it was a very fun, solid comic book action film. With this sequel I feel exactly the same way except I think I enjoyed Avengers: Age Of Ultron more. The film provides better action, a more interesting main protagonist (I really like Ultron a lot) and is just overall a much more enthralling movie. The main issue though, is that anyone expecting something a bit different this time around will be hugely disappointed, as the film feels a little too similar to it's predecessor in terms of certain structural and narrative elements. Having said that there is still enough little characteristics and progressive elements, to make it stand out a little and the film is still thoroughly fun and entertaining, which will certainly be enough to satisfy most people.
So if your not a big fan off the superhero genre, you probably won't find much to enjoy here. But for everyone else, just sit back and enjoy the fun.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014)

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 AKA The Slightly Above Average Spider-Man 2. So this was a pretty good movie, nothing really stood out to me though. It followed quite a few conventions of superhero movies and some of the scenes dragged a little. However it does get bonus points for certain things in the narrative and I really liked Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and enjoyed Jamie Foxx a lot more than I thought I would. The action's not too bad either and overall it's quite decent but nothing stand out.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Solid sequel here that is on par if maybe a little better than the first one. The one thing that I enjoyed more than usual was the story it had some nice links to the first and never felt overwrought. It's got some good action sequences in it too, though it does suffer from them being done in a fast, choppy shaky style which always annoys me but some of it was bearable here.
Visual effects were pretty good and choreography was fine.
All in all, it's another solid Marvel film that still retains it's sense of fun and manages to deliver what you expect.
