Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes (1972)

A super solid film and by far the second best film of the series, containing once again a great ending and a great performance from Roddy McDowall.  I do feel that this film is may only be truly appreciated by fans of the actual series and that other people will possibly find the whole thing rather silly and not get behind it. But I do think they did a really good job with this movie and think it's very successful with it's intentions  and the themes of oppression and revolution come across really well.
A very entertaining and overall very solid film.

The Hourglass Sanatorium (1972)

Here's a great strange polish film for you with great set design and some really nice tracking shots. It's very dreamlike and surreal in approach and kept me constantly engaged, even when I didn't quite understand what was going on.
Tthe film flows through each scene quite seamlessly and stays consistent with its tone and atmosphere, and quite alot of the dialogue also comes a cross as rather poetic.
All in all, it's very unique film that I thoroughly enjoyed. It's intricate, surreal and simply great.

Under The Flag Of The Rising Sun (1972)

Kinju Fukasaku presents this superb War film, exploring and critiquing some of the facets and effects of WWII in Japan. It's definitely an effective film, with some very interesting stylistic choices and good use of actual WWII photos. Though some could argue that certain points are over-stylised and that the whole thing's a little too heavy handed, but I think that is all fine here and just adds to it's effectiveness. It also has some really good performances and it's just a great movie in general.
